Drake Maye: The New MVP Favorite? | NFL 2025 Insights (2025)

Forget the usual suspects; a new frontrunner has emerged in the race for the NFL MVP! It's a seismic shift, folks. For years, we've watched the same elite quarterbacks battle for the coveted title. But 2025 is shaping up to be different.

Since 2018, the MVP award has been a private club, with only four quarterbacks gaining entry. But, as of right now, none of those familiar faces are the favorites for the 2025 award.

Currently, the odds-on favorite is Drake Maye, the Patriots' quarterback, with impressive odds of +275. Hot on his heels is Matthew Stafford of the Rams, at +300. Both quarterbacks showcased their talents with impressive road wins in Week 10. New England triumphed over the Buccaneers with a score of 28-23, while the Rams evened the regular-season series against the 49ers with a dominant 42-26 victory. Furthermore, Stafford made history as the first player to achieve three consecutive games with four or more touchdown passes and zero interceptions.

The competition is fierce. Patrick Mahomes is next in line at 5-1, followed by Jonathan Taylor, the Colts' running back, at 6-1, Josh Allen at 7-1, and Sam Darnold, the Seahawks' quarterback, at 10-1. Lamar Jackson is at 25-1, and Aaron Rodgers has a long shot at 150-1.

But here's where it gets interesting... The season is far from over, and the MVP race can change dramatically from week to week. However, the Patriots, currently with an 8-2 record, have a favorable schedule ahead. They face the Jets, Bengals, and Giants before their bye week. Many analysts predict they'll be at 11-2 by that point. Then comes the challenging games against the Bills and the resurgent Ravens, followed by the Jets and Dolphins to end the season.

The No. 1 seed is within reach for New England. And this is the part most people miss... This potential positioning puts the MVP award squarely within Maye's reach.

Of course, the Rams could also end up with the No. 1 seed in the NFC, which would significantly boost Stafford's chances. And here's a controversial point: Stafford has never won the MVP, and this could be perceived as his last best chance to do so, while Maye has many more opportunities ahead of him.

What do you think? Will Drake Maye or Matthew Stafford take home the MVP? Do you think the veteran Stafford deserves it more, or should the award go to the up-and-coming Maye? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
